NANOTECHNOLOGY
The new G4 frameset uses some of the most advanced technologies available in a bicycle to achieve an 860 gram weight. This is quite possibly the lightest production frame on the market and it has a lifetime warranty. BH achieves this magical blend of low-weight, great ride and toughness using Nanotechnology resins. The weakest areas in a traditional carbon-fiber component are the tiny spaces between the fibers that contain only resin. To radically improve strength and toughness in these critical areas, scientists have developed advanced resins containing microscopic carbon nanotubes. Carbon nanotubes are an array of carbon atoms arranged in a pattern of hexagons and pentagons. These structures can be manufactured in tubular shapes one billionth of a meter in diameter, hence the name nanotube. Carbon nanotubes have been called “the strongest fiber that will ever be made”. Nanotubes have a strength-to-weight ratio orders of magnitude greater than steel. LIFETIME WARRANTY
All BH road bikes have a limited lifetime warranty. We consider this lifetime warranty to be a phenomenal accomplishment, especially considering we have some of the lightest carbon road frames on the market. We protect against any manufacturer defect for the life of the frameset for the original owner. This warranty does not include or cover crashes, neglect of any kind, misuse or acts of God. TUBE TO TUBE BH uses a variety of construction methods to craft its carbon frames. The Speedrom uses monocoque construction to create its sub-1000 gram frame. This technique is used by the majority of the industry. Workers hand-lay carbon that has been pre-impregnated with resin in specific patterns and thicknesses over a nylon or latex bladder. The pre-preg carbon is then inserted in a mold that is heated up to high temperatures to melt the resin. The bladder is inflated to incredibly high pressure to drive out any air in the material and push the carbon to its final shape. After cooling, the seatstays and chainstays are bonded to the front triangle. Tube to Tube construction is very different from Monocoque. It allows much more flexible manufacturing and very low frame weights. In this method, each tube is made individually to exacting standards. The tubes are then mitered like you would miter an alloy tube for a bicycle. Glue is applied to the ends of the mitered tubes and then the frame is pre-assembled in its final geometry. The frame is then reinforced by wrapping carbon around all the joints. After the finished frame is cured the result is a very light, sub-900 gram Connect. The G4 uses the most sophisticated and advanced materials and manufacturing techniques known to bicycle builders. It also has complex tube shapes and geometry to achieve a weight and ride quality that are unequaled. While it uses monocoque construction, there is nothing ordinary about this bike. One of the more ambitious product development projects in recent cycling history involved the sponsorship of the UCI Pro-Tour team: Liberty Seguros. BH developed a whole new platform for the team, pushing carbon technology to a new level and exceeding the top professional rider’s expectations. This development project resulted in the very first monocoque carbon frame under 900 grams with an integrated (extended) seat tube which not only delivered a new level of handling and efficiency but was also among the lightest and certainly best performing bikes in the world. Extended seat tubes and sub kilo frame weights are now “the latest rage” among bike manufactures and in the Pro-Tour but the technology was first developed by BH for Liberty Seguros several years ago. The latest iteration of this design will have a weight of 860 grams (including seat tube). Just like the original Liberty Seguros team bike, this latest version sets new performance standards, featuring optimized carbon nano-tube technology, and the first integrated seat tube design that does not require cutting of the seat tube. This design offers a proper amount of adjustability for just about every size rider, but we are not stopping there… BH continues to be a leader in composite product development for all our models. All the new models have been designed in conjunction with BH USA and offer everything a cyclist could want in a bike. We have additional models in the sub-1000 and sub-900 gram families that feature more traditional seat tube designs, beautiful Spanish styling and performance that that can satisfy the top climbers, sprinters, and long distance riders in the world. Not to be outdone by our standard road offerings, we take our Time Trial and Cyclocross models very seriously as well.
